Elon Musk Blasts Trump’s “Big, Beautiful” Bill for Ballooning the Deficit and Undermining DOGE Project
Billionaire Elon Musk has drawn fire from MAGA circles after publicly criticizing Donald Trump’s latest spending bill—a sweeping piece of legislation Musk says will "increase the budget deficit" and sabotage innovation efforts, including those related to his DOGE initiative.
In an interview with CBS, Musk didn’t hold back:
"I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing."
He added, "I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don’t know if it can be both."
Musk has recently distanced himself from the Trump administration, a move many interpret as damage control after public blowback dented Tesla and SpaceX’s reputations. While Musk has often drawn criticism himself, this time, his warning rings true.
The bill—already passed by the House but awaiting action in the Senate—is a fiscal disaster. It dishes out massive tax breaks for the wealthy, swells the Pentagon's budget beyond $1 trillion, and carves out billions from programs that working Americans rely on.
To offset the cost of these handouts, Republicans are gutting Medicaid. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that around 8 million Americans could lose health coverage over the next decade as a result. Even with these painful cuts, the bill is projected to add a staggering $3.8 trillion to the national deficit.
Once again, Republicans have shown that their outrage over the national debt is nothing more than a talking point—used to attack Democrats while they push through reckless, deficit-exploding legislation of their own.
Retweet and ❤️ if you’ve never fallen for the GOP’s debt hypocrisy.
