'No Kings' Protest Leader Unveils Plan to Confront 'Big Baby' Trump

Nationwide “No Kings” Protests Planned to Counter Trump’s Birthday Parade

An activist from the “No Kings” movement has unveiled plans for a large-scale protest scheduled for June 14—President Donald Trump’s birthday and Flag Day.

Ezra Levin, co-founder of the grassroots group Indivisible, which is part of the "No Kings" coalition, spoke on The Jim Acosta Show to announce a coordinated protest effort set to unfold across the country. The demonstrations will deliberately avoid downtown Washington, D.C., where Trump is expected to hold a grand military-style parade.

According to planning documents obtained by the Associated Press, the Trump administration's parade would begin in Arlington, Virginia, cross the Potomac River into D.C., and culminate with a concert and fireworks display. The spectacle could feature over 6,600 troops, more than 150 military vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven military bands, and thousands of civilians.

Levin said that organizers are working with local groups in over 30 states to stage protests far from the parade route. “We’re not showing up to his parade,” he explained. “We won’t give him an excuse to suppress peaceful protest. We want to show the contrast: he’s throwing a military birthday party, while we—the people, where power really comes from—are showing up everywhere else.”

The June 14 protest is part of a broader wave of opposition that has swept the country since Trump returned to office in January 2025. Demonstrators have condemned administration policies, including drastic cuts made by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Trump’s aggressive immigration agenda. Recent polls show his approval rating at a record low.

Levin emphasized that spending millions on a parade while slashing Medicaid and other vital programs is deeply out of step with the country’s needs. He described Trump’s agenda as “heinous” and said the protest movement has been “inspiring.”

Meanwhile, Army spokesperson Colonel Dave Butler told the Associated Press: “We want this to be a national celebration. A parade could be a great way for Americans to connect with their Army and its soldiers.”

In response, the “No Kings” coalition reiterated its message: “Real power isn’t staged in Washington. It rises up everywhere else.”

While the main protest events will be outside of downtown D.C., law enforcement agencies are preparing for increased security. Specific plans have not yet been disclosed. The coalition plans to release more details about the June 14 protest in the coming days.
