Trump fires ominous six-word warning shot to 'disrespectful' Putin as row rages on

Trump Issues Warning to Putin, Accuses Him of Stalling Ukraine Peace Talks

Donald Trump delivered a stark warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of intentionally stalling efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine. The former U.S. president was asked whether it was disrespectful for Putin to dismiss his criticisms as emotionally driven.

A reporter asked: “Do you believe the Russians are being disrespectful when they say your remarks about Putin are just emotional reactions? And do you still think Putin genuinely wants to end the war?”

Trump replied, “I can't say for sure, but I’ll let you know in about two weeks. We’re going to find out very soon whether he’s stringing us along.” He then issued a vague yet pointed remark, saying, “If he is, we’ll respond a little bit differently.”

Trump also commended his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, stating he was doing a “phenomenal job” in handling discussions with Russia. “They seem to want to reach an agreement,” Trump said. “But until something is officially signed, no one can say for certain. I will say this: I’m very disappointed in what’s happened.”

He continued, expressing frustration over recent violence: “There were a couple of nights where people were killed in the middle of what should have been negotiations. That’s deeply disappointing.”

These remarks came shortly after Trump described Putin as “absolutely crazy” in a post on Truth Social. He wrote:

“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin, but something has changed. He’s gone absolutely CRAZY! He’s needlessly killing a lot of people—and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being launched into Ukrainian cities for no reason. I’ve said all along, he wants all of Ukraine, not just part of it. If that’s true, it will be Russia’s downfall.”

In response, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed Trump’s remarks, attributing them to “emotional overload.” He said: “These comments are clearly fueled by heightened emotions. This is a decisive moment, and tensions are understandably high.”

This rhetorical clash followed one of the most intense Russian aerial assaults since the full-scale invasion began. Ukrainian officials reported that Russia launched 355 drones on Sunday night alone. That barrage came after a previous wave involving 298 drones and 69 missiles, marking a peak in Moscow’s air campaign.
