Steve Bannon, a leading MAGA figure and close Trump ally, is calling for South African-born billionaire Elon Musk to be “deported from the country immediately,” as tensions between Musk and Donald Trump reach a boiling point.
The conflict escalated after Musk publicly accused Trump of being named in the Epstein files—a claim that has further inflamed MAGA loyalists. “They should launch a full investigation into his immigration status,” Bannon told The New York Times. “I strongly believe he is in the country illegally and should be deported without delay.”
Bannon didn’t stop there. He urged Trump to dig into Musk’s alleged drug use, examine reports that Musk sought classified briefings on China from the Pentagon, terminate all federal contracts with his companies, and revoke his security clearance.
While Bannon has criticized Musk before, this latest salvo comes at a time when Trump might be more receptive. The former president’s relationship with Musk appears to have collapsed following Musk’s blistering attack on X (formerly Twitter).
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk posted. “That’s the real reason they’ve never been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
The accusation came just hours after Trump threatened to axe federal subsidies and contracts benefiting Musk’s empire. The dispute centers on Trump’s latest legislative push, which Musk called a “disgusting abomination.”
According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the bill would strip health insurance from nearly 11 million Americans over the next decade. Meanwhile, it would inflate the already bloated Pentagon budget past $1 trillion, slash taxes by $3.7 trillion—largely benefiting the wealthy—and add $2.4 trillion to the national deficit.
