Congressman Lynch Demands Subpoena for Elon Musk Over Alarming Drug Allegations and National Security Risks

Democratic Congressman Stephen Lynch Drops Bombshell, Calls for Elon Musk to Be Subpoenaed Over Alleged Drug Use

Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-MA) stunned the House Oversight Committee during an AI-focused hearing by demanding that Elon Musk be subpoenaed, citing serious allegations about the tech billionaire’s drug use and national security concerns.

“Four months ago, Democrats pushed to subpoena Elon Musk to testify before this committee,” Lynch said. “At that time, Republicans objected, claiming their constituents were bombarding them with complaints just for bringing up Musk’s name. Well, those concerns have only grown more serious since.”

Lynch detailed a litany of issues involving Musk — from his mass firings of federal employees, to mishandling sensitive government data, to creating what he called a “cybersecurity nightmare” and fostering a “horrifying surveillance state.” According to Lynch, Musk’s behavior has placed the American public at risk and demands scrutiny.

He continued, “Americans now question whether Musk — one of the Trump administration’s most powerful informal advisors — may have been under the influence of drugs while shaping some of its most impactful policies.”

A New York Times investigation recently reported that Musk was “using drugs far more intensely than previously known” during the 2020 election period. His alleged use included ketamine, Adderall, Ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms — with reports that he often traveled with a pill box containing up to 20 pills. The ketamine use was reportedly so severe it affected his bladder.

The report also raised serious ethical and legal concerns: despite strict no-drug policies at SpaceX (a major government contractor), Musk allegedly received advance notice of random drug tests, effectively allowing him to avoid scrutiny — a privilege not afforded to regular employees.

Lynch warned, “It’s worth investigating whether one of Trump’s most influential backers was making decisions that impacted hundreds of thousands of lives — including the denial of foreign medical aid to children — while possibly impaired by heavy drug use.”

He also pointed to Musk’s recent attacks on Republican initiatives. “If nothing else moves my Republican colleagues, maybe they’d like to ask Musk why he called their Medicaid cuts and billionaire tax breaks a ‘disgusting abomination’ and a ‘massive outrageous pork-filled Congressional spending bill.’ Or why he spent the past 24 hours using his social media platform to try to kill that bill.”

Lynch added that Musk even threatened further layoffs — potentially targeting Republican politicians who don’t align with his agenda.

Following his remarks, Lynch formally moved to subpoena Musk. Predictably, Republicans attempted to block it. Lacking the numbers for a recorded vote, committee Chair Nancy Mace — a staunch Trump ally — abruptly claimed the committee clerk was unprepared and suspended the hearing.

Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett challenged the delay. “Historically, it’s never taken this long for a clerk. Do we not have an assistant clerk ready to keep this committee functioning?” she asked.

When Mace claimed the vote couldn’t proceed, Crockett pressed further: “Is the only reason we can’t vote because y’all were about to lose it?”

Their tense exchange continued, with Mace trying to shut down Crockett’s questions, calling them “not a valid inquiry.” Eventually, enough Republicans returned to the chamber, allowing a recorded vote that tabled Lynch’s motion.

But the moment sparked fierce debate: Should Congress subpoena Elon Musk?
