Donald Trump issues stark warning to Elon Musk as furious row continues

Trump Warns Musk of "Serious Consequences" Amid Escalating Feud

The rift between Donald Trump and Elon Musk shows no signs of easing, with the U.S. President issuing a stern warning to the tech billionaire. Trump told NBC News that Musk would face "very serious consequences" if he follows through on threats to financially support Democratic candidates opposing Republican lawmakers who back the president’s tax policies.

When asked if he hoped to mend relations with Musk, Trump gave a definitive “no,” stating, “I have no intention of speaking to him.” He accused Musk of showing disrespect toward the presidency: “You could not disrespect the office of the President more than he has.”

Tensions have been rising since Musk’s departure from his government advisory role late last month. The billionaire has since criticized Trump’s prized tax plan—dubbed the "big beautiful bill" by the president—sparking a heated social media exchange.

The feud spilled over onto X and Truth Social, with Trump hinting he might revoke Musk’s federal contracts. “I’d be allowed to do that,” he told NBC, though added, “I haven’t given it any thought.”

Musk fired back online, claiming without evidence that Trump’s administration had withheld documents related to Jeffrey Epstein because the president was named in them. Trump dismissed the allegation as “old news,” adding that “Even Epstein’s lawyer said I had nothing to do with it.” No credible evidence has ever linked Trump to wrongdoing in the Epstein case.

Musk later appeared to delete the post from X.

Their feud reignited less than a week after they were seen together at a White House event, where Trump symbolically awarded Musk a golden key in recognition of his service. While Musk publicly criticized the tax bill soon after, Trump initially remained quiet, only responding days later with a sharp rebuke from the Oval Office, calling Musk “a great disappointment.”

Musk quickly responded on social media, accelerating the fallout.

The dispute appears to have affected Tesla’s market performance, with the company’s stock dropping more than 10% following Trump’s remarks.

Trump has since claimed on social media that he asked Musk to step down: “Elon was wearing thin—I asked him to leave.” However, official reports indicate Musk’s exit was a result of his employment status within the government.
