Elon Musk Blasts Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Budget Bill” as a “Disgusting Abomination” While GOP Scrambles in the Senate
The rift between MAGA billionaire Elon Musk and Donald Trump has officially exploded.
In a scathing post on X, Musk unleashed a full-throated condemnation of Trump’s so-called “big, beautiful budget bill,” labeling it “a disgusting abomination.”
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,” Musk wrote. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
He continued, “It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.”
Strangely enough, Musk is right this time. The bill is a disaster. Analysts project that 15 million Americans could lose their health insurance over the next decade thanks to sweeping cuts to Medicaid, rollbacks of the Affordable Care Act, and the expiration of essential tax credits.
Meanwhile, the bill does nothing to meaningfully address the national debt or deficit—despite GOP claims of fiscal responsibility. Instead, it inflates both, driven by extravagant tax breaks for the wealthy and a bloated $1 trillion defense budget.
Of course, Musk’s sudden concern for economic damage may be less about compassion and more about self-interest. The swelling deficit puts his crypto-pumping “DOGE” narrative at risk, and his lingering resentment over being iced out of Trump’s inner circle likely fuels his outrage.
This isn’t Musk’s first jab at the legislation, but it’s by far his harshest. Just last week, he called the bill “disappointing,” arguing that it “increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.”
“I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful,” Musk added, “but I don’t know if it can be both.”
