Vice President J.D. Vance has inadvertently revealed just how shaky Donald Trump’s claims are about his illegal bombing of Iran—by suggesting it may not have been nearly as effective as Trump insists.
MAGA world can’t seem to keep their story straight.
“We are going to work in the coming weeks to ensure that we do something with that fuel, and that’s one of the things that we’re going to have conversations with the Iranians about,” Vance told ABC News, referring to the enriched uranium Trump supposedly destroyed.
While Trump has loudly declared the unprecedented, unauthorized strike a total success, the evidence simply doesn’t back him up.
NBC News reports that the actual damage to Iran’s deeply buried Fordo facility, as well as the Isfahan and Natanz sites, is still unknown. In fact, around 880 pounds of 60% enriched uranium remains “publicly unaccounted for.”
According to The New York Times, if that uranium is still intact, it could be enough material to build nine or ten nuclear bombs.
Trump spent days telegraphing the attack with his erratic threats on Truth Social, giving Iran plenty of time to move its stockpile out of harm’s way.
If the bombing were truly as successful as Trump claims, there would be no need for Vance to call for fresh negotiations with Iran to find the missing uranium. Clearly, something doesn’t add up.
Meanwhile, Trump is bragging about brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Iran—but no one knows if it’s genuine or remotely sustainable.
This is classic Trump: treating high-stakes geopolitics like a reality TV stunt. He unilaterally bombed another country without congressional approval, likely failed to accomplish his stated objective, proclaimed victory anyway, and is now scrambling to save face.
It’s a chaotic, humiliating episode for the United States—and a stark reminder that America under Trump cannot be trusted to provide steady leadership.
