Donald Trump Warned of Move That Could 'Break' MAGA Coalition

Conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk has issued a sharp warning to President Donald Trump, saying that any move to grant amnesty to undocumented migrant workers could shatter the core of the MAGA movement.

Speaking on his show, The Charlie Kirk Show, the Turning Point USA founder said the idea of allowing farmworkers or hospitality laborers to stay in the U.S. — even with employer support — would amount to a betrayal of the America First base that brought Trump back to power.

“If you want to break our coalition, go and push amnesty,” Kirk said. “That would be a complete collapse of everything that we have worked for.”

Since returning to office in January 2025, President Trump has doubled down on immigration enforcement, launching mass deportation operations and directing officials to focus removals on Democrat-run cities. But internal tensions are rising.

While public rhetoric has leaned heavily on tough border enforcement, reports indicate that Trump quietly instructed ICE to pause raids on farms, restaurants, and hotels — industries dependent on migrant labor. Though the pause was short-lived, it caused concern among hardline supporters.

Adding to the controversy, Trump recently signaled openness to a legislative path for select migrant workers. At a rally in Iowa, he suggested that if farmers or hotel owners were willing to "vouch" for undocumented workers, his administration may allow them to stay.

“We gotta work with the farmers… and people that have hotels and leisure properties,” Trump said. “If a farmer is willing to vouch for these people, I think we’re going to have to just say that’s going to be good.”

Kirk expressed concern that Trump is being pressured by powerful interests to soften immigration policy.

“Literally the day before Trump signed the 'big, beautiful bill,’ I got calls from ruling class types saying, ‘Now we need mass amnesty,’” Kirk said.

“There’s a group pushing him to stop deportations and make a deal. I trust Trump’s instincts, but I want to know what I’m not going to like.”

Kirk admitted Trump hinted that some on the “radical right” may not appreciate the direction, but insisted that loyalty to the movement means holding the line on mass deportations.

Other Republicans are also navigating this immigration paradox. Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD), chair of the House Freedom Caucus, acknowledged the economic realities:

“There has to be a serious effort to ensure we have the workforce we need… whether it's H-2A, H-2B, or a new category that provides enough workers to keep the economy going.”
