Fox News halted for major Donald Trump alert and it's a devastating blow for Starmer

Former U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines during his weekend visit to Scotland, where he opened a new golf course and prepared for a high-profile meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. While the trip was billed as part of Trump’s broader campaign tour, his latest remarks on immigration have stirred controversy on both sides of the Atlantic.

Fox News interrupted regular programming to broadcast Trump’s arrival and comments live from Prestwick Airport. Speaking to reporters, Trump criticized European governments for what he described as their failure to manage illegal immigration. “It’s a horrible invasion. It’s killing Europe,” he said, blaming what he called weak leadership and overly lenient policies for ongoing migrant crossings—particularly across the English Channel.

Directly referencing the UK and France, Trump warned: “On immigration, you better get your act together or you're not going to have Europe anymore.”

His comments come amid growing domestic pressure on Prime Minister Starmer to strengthen the UK’s border security. In recent weeks, protests have erupted across parts of England over the housing of asylum seekers in government-funded hotels. Despite efforts by British authorities, including agreements with France to curb small boat crossings, illegal arrivals via the Channel remain a persistent issue.

Trump, meanwhile, used the opportunity to tout his own track record on border control. “We’ve effectively shut the border,” he said, referring to recent measures on the U.S.-Mexico border. He called on European nations to adopt a similar approach, warning that failure to act could result in the loss of national identity: “If they don’t, they’re not going to have countries left. You won’t recognise them.”

While the former president’s visit to Scotland is part of his broader campaign to build international visibility and connect with supporters abroad, his pointed criticism of European immigration policies is likely to overshadow the optics of diplomacy. The meeting with Prime Minister Starmer could prove politically delicate, especially as the UK leader navigates calls for tougher enforcement at home.

Whether Trump's remarks influence European policy debates remains to be seen—but they have certainly added new pressure to ongoing immigration discussions across the continent.
