Popular royal breaks silence after going viral for 'mocking' Donald Trump live on TV

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands has addressed a viral video that led many to believe she was mocking former U.S. President Donald Trump. In a recent statement, the Queen clarified that the moment, which gained widespread attention online, was misunderstood.

Speaking to Dutch news outlet AD, Queen Máxima explained that she was simply expressing gratitude to someone who had assisted her during the event, not mimicking Mr. Trump. “I just said 'thank you' to someone who helped me,” she said, adding that her interaction with Trump was “a pleasant experience.”

The incident occurred during the former U.S. President's visit to the Netherlands, where he joined other world leaders for the NATO summit held in The Hague. He was formally welcomed at the Huis ten Bosch Palace by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima.

In the widely shared video, the trio is seen posing for photos inside the palace. As Trump says, “thank you very much” to the photographers, Queen Máxima appears to mimic his lip movements in a manner resembling Trump’s usual expressions, before proceeding to show him around the room.

The brief moment quickly drew attention on social media. One user shared the clip with the caption, “The more I watch Queen Maxima of the Netherlands mock Trump's mouth, the funnier it gets 😂.” Others chimed in with similar sentiments, with one joking they were on “Season 7” of the clip.

The Queen addressed the speculation during the Dutch royal family's annual summer photo session at Huis ten Bosch. Her eldest daughter, Princess Catharina-Amalia, who is the heir to the throne, also met Mr. Trump during the visit. The 21-year-old described the encounter as “really cool,” calling it a memorable moment to meet the “President of America.”
