Doctor's 'concern' for Donald Trump's health after worrying sign appears

Recently, photos of former President Donald Trump have sparked fresh speculation after visible bruises were spotted on his hand multiple times in the same week. This marks the third occasion in recent months where his hands appeared bruised, raising questions about his overall health.

In one instance, a dark mark was noticed while he signed an executive order at the Oval Office. Just days earlier, footage from a golf outing also showed a bruise, while another public appearance suggested makeup may have been applied to cover similar marks.

Medical professionals have weighed in with possible explanations.

  • Dr. Jeff Foster, Medical Director at Manual, explained that the bruises may be linked to common causes in older adults, such as thinner skin and fragile blood vessels. He also noted that bruising could sometimes appear after procedures involving a cannula (a small medical tube) or from medications like blood thinners.

  • Dr. Gareth Nye, Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford, suggested the marks could also be a benign condition called actinic purpura, which often occurs due to aging or sun exposure. He pointed out that while bruising can resemble the effects of IV therapy, there is no clear evidence to confirm such treatment in Trump’s case.

The White House has previously downplayed concerns, attributing the bruises to frequent handshakes during public appearances. However, experts agree that while bruising in older adults is often harmless, repeated occurrences can understandably raise questions.

At 79, Trump remains one of the oldest presidents in U.S. history, so any visible change in his appearance naturally attracts public attention. Whether these bruises point to something medical or simply reflect normal aging is still a matter of speculation.
