Donald Trump dealt devastating WW3 blow on BBC Breakfast: ‘This will end badly’

During an interview on BBC Breakfast, Liberal Democrats leader Sir Ed Davey sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s handling of recent talks involving Ukraine and Russia.

The criticism came after Trump hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House alongside several European leaders. Shortly after, Trump also held a separate meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin, an encounter that drew controversy for what many saw as overly warm treatment of the Russian leader.

Ed Davey expressed concern that Trump seemed more focused on striking a deal with Putin than on safeguarding Ukraine’s sovereignty or Europe’s long-term security. He told the BBC:

“I fear Trump is still more interested in a deal with Vladimir Putin than he is in putting the interest of Ukraine first, and indeed of security for Europe.”

Davey went on to warn against vague “security guarantees” and particularly criticized the possibility of territorial concessions being part of any deal. He argued that forcing Ukraine to cede land would amount to appeasement, drawing a historical parallel to the failed attempts at appeasing aggressors before World War II.

His comments sparked strong reactions among viewers. Some drew comparisons to the early warning signs of global conflict, with one viewer commenting online: “WW3 incoming then.” Others worried about Ukraine being pressured as the “weaker party,” while Russia benefits from what they saw as political bullying.

The central question remains whether Trump’s approach could end up undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty while emboldening Putin a fear many in Europe share.
