President Donald Trump once again lashed out at the FBI, describing the 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate as “disgraceful” and “politically motivated.” Trump claimed agents even searched the private quarters of his wife, Melania Trump, and their son, Barron, which he said crossed a line.
Speaking during a conversation with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, Trump was asked about possible future raids following reports of a search at John Bolton’s residence. Responding to a reporter, he said:
“I don’t know. You’d have to ask the Department of Justice. They raided my house, I can tell you that. They did a big raid on my house.”
Trump went on to allege that agents “took away everything that wasn’t pinned down” during the Mar-a-Lago operation. He accused federal authorities of being “bad, sick people,” insisting they “came in with their guns like 98 of them.”
According to Trump, the search extended into highly personal areas of his family’s living space:
“They went into my wife’s area. They went into my son’s area my young son. What they did was a disgrace.”
Trump later revealed Melania’s reaction when she returned home to find her belongings disturbed:
“She’s very neat, very meticulous. She looked around and said, ‘Woo… this isn’t the way I left it.’ It’s not a good feeling.”
The August 2022 Mar-a-Lago raid was part of an investigation into the alleged mishandling of classified documents. That case was later dismissed, fueling Trump’s claims that it was a “witch hunt” designed to damage him politically.
Trump mocked the FBI’s efforts by pointing out that despite the raid, he was once again seated in the Oval Office:
“How did it work out? I guess it didn’t work out too well for them, did it?”
Labeling the agents “very evil” and “very sick people,” Trump also claimed that if his opponents had won the election, the U.S. “would have been a failed country.” Instead, he boasted, America is now “the hottest country in the world by far.”
