Fox News recently interrupted its programming (August 26) to highlight what it called a “bold operation” led by Donald Trump’s administration in Washington, D.C. an initiative that could indirectly leave UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer facing renewed criticism over his own record on crime and immigration.
Correspondent Alexis McAdams went on an exclusive ride-along with U.S. Marshals as they carried out a wave of arrests just a few blocks from the White House. Officers executed warrants on suspects wanted for violent crimes, with McAdams noting: “We didn’t have to go far from here to see the arrests.”
The Fox cameras showed officers sweeping apartment complexes, carefully coordinating every move. Over several hours, two suspects were arrested in high-crime neighborhoods, part of a broader crackdown that has already seen more than a thousand arrests in the past month including individuals living in the U.S. illegally.
This tough-on-crime approach is being framed as a political win for Trump, who has long positioned himself as a defender of “law and order” in American cities.
Across the Atlantic, however, Starmer is under growing fire for what critics call a “lawless Britain.” Violent crime rates and record-breaking small boat crossings have dominated headlines, with protests erupting outside hotels housing asylum seekers.
A recent YouGov poll published in The Times found that 71% of voters believe Starmer is mishandling the asylum crisis, with many saying his government has failed to reassure local communities. Although measures to speed up asylum appeals have been announced, results are yet to materialize leaving frustration high.
The Fox News comparison underscores a political dilemma for Starmer: while Trump is being praised by U.S. media for a visible clampdown on crime near the White House, Starmer faces mounting pressure at home to take firmer action on border security, illegal immigration, and violent crime.

Bull. 3/4 of Americans disagree with Trump.
