California Governor Gavin Newsom has once again made headlines for his sharp social media trolling — this time aimed at Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, whom he mocked as “bargain bin” and the “dancing queen.”
On his Press Office X account, Newsom posted a string of satirical jabs that imitated Donald Trump’s over-the-top communication style. The post read:
“J.D. ‘JUST DANCE’ VANCE, WHO NOBODY LIKED UNTIL TRUMP PICKED HIM OUT OF THE ‘BARGAIN BIN’ IN THE WALMART CLEARANCE SECTION, WENT ON FOX TO TRASH ME, GAVIN C. NEWSOM, AMERICA'S MOST POPULAR GOVERNOR.”
The account then doubled down with even harsher jabs, joking that Vance “lives rent-free in my head (tiny space, almost no room with ‘the couch’), can’t run, takes more vacations than any vice president in history, and even wears a ‘communist red shirt’ now that Chairman Trump tells him what to wear.”
The trolling escalated with Newsom sarcastically suggesting Vance should be preparing for “Dancing With the Stars”, calling him a “total loser” who is propped up by Fox News to look smarter than he is.
While clearly tongue-in-cheek, the post highlights the growing rivalry between Newsom and Vance. Many observers believe Newsom is testing a more aggressive online persona to counter MAGA Republicans at their own game.
His tweets have gone viral in recent weeks for being both brutal and humorous — sparking speculation about whether he’s preparing for a bigger national role.
