Russia explodes at the UK ahead of Ukraine peace talks as WW3 fears soar

Tensions Rise Ahead of Trump-Putin Peace Talks as Russia Accuses UK of Sabotage

The Russian Embassy in London has sharply criticized the UK just days before peace talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska. Moscow accused Britain of trying to derail Trump’s efforts to broker a settlement in Ukraine — an accusation that comes alongside unconfirmed claims that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might be willing to make territorial concessions despite his public stance against them.

The Kremlin reacted angrily after No. 10 warned that Putin “cannot be trusted as far as you could throw him.” British officials have voiced concern that Ukraine’s future could be decided without Kyiv’s presence or NATO’s direct involvement. London has also stressed that a ceasefire should come before any peace deal — a step Russia currently opposes.

In a statement, the Russian Embassy claimed the UK and its allies are “trying to disrupt a peaceful resolution of the conflict by avoiding its root causes.” It accused European capitals of wanting to keep Ukraine as an “anti-Russian battering ram.”

Putin, according to the embassy, is open to a political and diplomatic settlement aimed at a “lasting and long-term peace.” Zelensky, however, sees this as a trap.

“The Russians simply want to buy time, not end the war,” Zelensky warned. He accused Putin of preparing to deceive Trump, saying that Moscow is redeploying troops in ways that suggest new offensive plans — not peace talks.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Russia claims it has breached Ukraine’s main defensive line north of Pokrovsk. There are also reports — though unverified — that Zelensky could accept a freeze on the current frontline, effectively allowing Russia to keep control (but not formal sovereignty) over Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Crimea.

Trump has said he hopes to recover at least some of Ukraine’s occupied coastline. “Russia has taken prime territory,” he said. “We are going to try to get some of that territory back for Ukraine.”

The conflict continues to escalate militarily. Russia hit a Ukrainian training unit overnight, killing one soldier and wounding 11. Ukraine’s military intelligence says it struck a major Russian rocket helium facility in Orenburg, far behind the front lines. Ukrainian drones also reportedly targeted military-related factories in the Stavropol region, including one producing synthetic sapphire for military optics, as well as a plant making marine control systems.

Inside Russia, a massive fire broke out at a Yaroslavl plant producing protective coatings for military equipment — suspected to be sabotage. In Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, a 68-year-old civilian was injured by Russian aerial bombs.

The Alaska meeting between Trump and Putin is expected to be closely watched, with many questioning whether it will lead to genuine progress — or simply a diplomatic photo op.

  2. Putin doesn't want the war to end. He can't accept defeat. He is just making Trump look useless. Trump fears Putin. Give them sanctions to end the war
