Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) confirmed that it carried out overnight drone strikes on a Russian oil refinery in Samara Oblast and a gas terminal in Leningrad Oblast. The attacks not only targeted Moscow’s energy infrastructure but also disrupted civilian air travel.
One notable incident occurred when an aircraft operated by Egyptian carrier AlMasria Universal Airlines, en route from Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, to St. Petersburg, was forced to make an emergency landing in Tallinn, Estonia. Tallinn Airport officials later confirmed that the plane was diverted after Russia’s Pulkovo Airport temporarily closed due to the strikes.
Passengers and crew were not allowed to disembark during the six-hour delay, after which the flight eventually continued to its destination.
This incident highlights a growing trend: Ukraine’s strategy of hitting Russia’s oil and gas facilities has repeatedly disrupted air travel. Reports suggest that Russian airports have already been forced to halt operations more than 200 times in 2025 alone, marking one of the most significant disruptions since the war began.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to end the conflict remain uncertain. U.S. President Donald Trump recently extended his deadline for Russia and Ukraine to reach a ceasefire agreement, but frustration is reportedly mounting as the war, which began with Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, enters its third year.

Ceasefire agreements obviously will NOT work‼️ Russia has proved many times that it will NEVER adhere to peace agreements ‼️ Only COMPLETE defeat and demiliterization of Russia can end this war ‼️
ReplyDeleteMr Trump. Stop sitting on the fence whilst all these innocent adults and children are being killed. You have said over and over again what your feelings are towards people being innocently killed, even more so recently. You know Putin will never agree to any suggestions to end this war especially a ceasefire and whilst he is making friends with other influential countries you are sat on you backside. If all this is the start of a third world war between Russia , their friends and the West, it will be down to you, not the President of Ukraine.
