A massive statue of former President Donald Trump has just been unveiled near Las Vegas, and it’s stirring up quite a storm. The sculpture, which stands at 43 feet tall and shows Trump in the nude, has quickly become a lightning rod for debate. Supporters of Trump are calling it offensive and “despicable,” while others see it as an example of provocative political art that pushes boundaries.

The artwork is titled “Crooked and Obscene” and was created by an anonymous artist. Built from foam and reinforced with rebar, the statue weighs around 6,000 pounds and isn’t meant to stay in one spot. Instead, it’s part of a traveling exhibit called the Crooked and Obscene Tour. According to the artist’s spokesperson, the point is to challenge how politicians are portrayed and to spark reflection on power, authenticity, and public image.

Reactions online have been intense. Some conservative commentators labeled the piece “Trump Derangement Syndrome” in action, while others questioned whether a similar statue of a Democratic leader would have been tolerated. The Nevada Republican Party released a statement calling it “deplorable,” arguing that placing a nude statue of a political figure along a busy interstate—where families drive by every day—crosses the line from satire into something inappropriate.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Trump has been targeted by controversial art. Back in 2018, a giant balloon of Trump as a diapered baby floated over London during his visit, drawing global attention. In that sense, the new statue is part of a longer trend of using artistic expression to provoke debate about his role in politics.

For Trump’s critics, the statue represents free expression and symbolic protest. For his supporters, it’s seen as disrespectful and needlessly divisive.
