CNN interrupted its regular coverage to report breaking news about President Donald Trump’s upcoming immigration enforcement plans.
According to the network, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order on Saturday, August 30. The order outlines the city’s initial strategies to oppose what is expected to be a large-scale federal immigration crackdown, which could begin as early as next week.
Mayor Johnson’s Response
Mayor Johnson criticized the administration’s approach, accusing Trump of “stoking fear” and making decisions that feel “erratic and impulsive.” He explained that while he would prefer collaboration, the urgency of the situation left him no choice but to act quickly.
In his statement, Johnson emphasized:
- Chicago police will not collaborate with federal agents on immigration enforcement.
- Federal officers in the city should avoid wearing face coverings and must identify themselves with names and badge numbers.
- City departments are directed to resist any efforts that might violate the rights of Chicago residents.
He added that credible reports suggest federal operations may begin within “days, not weeks,” warning of possible militarized activity.
White House Reaction
The White House responded strongly, saying:
“If these Democrats focused on fixing crime in their own cities instead of doing publicity stunts to criticize the president, their communities would be safer.”
This clash highlights growing tensions between federal immigration policies under Trump and the resistance strategies of major U.S. cities like Chicago.
This mayor must not like the citizens of Chicago. In 2024 of the us cities with population over 100,000 Chicago is in first place with over 500 or 600 murders followed by 2nd place New York with only a little over 200 or 300 murders . CNN is on LSD and tripping if they think that’s a blow to Trump . The mob ran that city better than this liberal mayor . Although it’s probably where all the republican votes are winding up.. democrat are just as fatefull now as they were when they was the political party of the Klu Kluk Klan . Brothers and Sisters need to look up and read the history of. You’ll also learn the demographics were the ones who voted against voting rights for women and minorities .. yet yall still support and do their leg work .. guess yall don’t care what your ancestors died for.. … Trump will use the courts to get his agenda and Chicago will be cut off Fed money just so he can keep the illegal immigrants, vote, what kinda mayor would do that to the citizens and where is the blow CNNLSD Js talking about ?
